New York Seminar - 21st/22nd March 2009

A very successful 1st New York SSBD Seminar organized by Jon Christian.

It was a 2 days (10hrs) event held on the 21st and 22nd March 2009 in New York, USA. The seminar covered aspects of body mechanics and distance awareness, empty hands movements and Flexible weapon. It was supported by martial arts practitioner and instructors from various martial art systems travelling from different parts of the US and outside of the US.

MY APPRECIATION

I would like to express my appreciation to Jon Christian for organizing and hosting a very successful 1st New York SSBD Seminar. To Michelle for her organizational skill on the day.

To Sifu Peggy Chau of Fighthouse, New York. To all the instructors and martial artist supporting the seminar travelling from inside New York and those travelling from outside New York and those from outside of the US, Elysee and Nora from flying in from Panama, Grant Scruggs and Sio flying in from Germany. Guru Yana from Pencak Silat Perisai Diri.

To Jose, Grant, Sio, Jon, Eric, Robin and especially Duane Nixon for being patient in being recievers in my demonstrations and instructions. Those who got injuries and still had the spirit and enthusiasm to carry on the training. Thank you to all those who emailed me the pictures from the events.

My apologies if I miss anyone or made any mistakes or miss-spellings, please email me to rectify it. Im still waiting for the name list from Jon, I hope the pictures can forgive me mistakes :)

Thank you Anthony, Malu, Jose B, Jon and Michelle for taking me around New York making my stay a memorable one. Chasing after elephants on the streets of New York in the middle of the night will stay with me for a long time. Jon and Michelle has been great hosts on my stay. Thank you.

This seminar like my other events aims primarily to raise the curiosity and awareness among people from different nationalities about the martial heritage and culture of Brunei Darussalam in general.

The support and welcome I got from this NYC Seminar was a humbling experience. The 2 days event were full of laughters, smiles and great spirit. Thank you everyone who supported and participated in the event and the gifts I recieved in the 2 days, Thank you.

NEXT NYC SEMINAR - 27th / 28th JUNE 2009

The next New York seminar will be a 2 days event to be held on the 27th/28th June, 2009.

SINCERE APOLOGIES

I would like to convey my sincere apologies for the individuals and groups of people who has sent me emails of enquiries, emails of support and encouragement.

As I am managing a major part of SSBD worldwide, in regards to the amount of emails that I get every week, I get an average of 55 to 60 emails a week. Due to my constantly travelling around the world, I would like to kindly ask for your understanding and patience if I do not or am late to reply to your emails.

To help get your answers faster, if you have any enquiries about SSBD seminars, study groups or trainin groups in your country or close to your area, please email the independent organizers or group leaders close to your country or area. They will help accomodate your enquiries. But please also be patient as most of them are not full-time martial artists, they have other responsibilities as well.

Adalah untuk pengetahuan semua, Silat Suffian Bela Diri pada masa ini bukanlah di bawah PERSIB (Persatuan Silat Brunei Darussalam).

Silat Suffian Bela Diri pada masa ini adalah di dalam "proses perundingan" untuk mendaftarkan nama ke PERSIB (Persatuan Silat Brunei Darussalam). Pada awal tahun 2009, iaitu pada bulan Januari, saya Maul Mornie telah pun membuat perjumpaan dan perundingan dengan Pg Hj Mohammad (President PERSIB) termasuklah dengan Pg Hj Jaludin (Secretary General PERSIB) dan Pg Karim (Tresurer PERSIB). Ini adalah perjumpaan pertama kali bercakap mengenai pendaftaran.

Oleh kerana jadual saya sangat padat mengajar di luar negara, process ini mengambil masa yang lebih lama dari yang di harapkan. Saya juga meminta pihak yang tertentu untuk bersabar dan memberi tolak ansur yang sepatutnya di dalam proses ini.

Hasrat saya di dalam membuat kenyataan ini adalah supaya tiada pihak yang cuba untuk mengelirukan cerita yang boleh memburukkan nama saya dan nama keluarga, atau cuba untuk melambatkan lagi proses pendaftaran.

Kita mestilah bersifat professional untuk memajukan lagi Tradisi Silat Brunei Kitani ke mata dunia. Sebagai orang Brunei kita mesti lah tolong menolong memajukan satu sama lain.
